I’ve been shooting a lot of  video lately — and I have to say it’s been a lot of fun.  I was recently hired by LUXE.TV to do a promotional video for Hotel Melia (ME) in Cabo San Lucas.  This was all shot on the Red and Canon 5D and I am impressed more and more on the capabilities of this camera.  Keep an eye out for more video — I just shot another one of the Los Angeles Riviera Country Club and the PGA golf tour last week.  I’ll be posting that soon.

Petition for President Obama
to appoint a Secretary of the Arts

Written at 4:23pm on March 3, 2009

Being an artist, I see firsthand the impact art has on society. People often tell me how my work touches them. Like music, paintings, theatre and movies photos help put a perspective on society that can’t be expressed in day-to-day situations. Art has the power to move people, unite people and connect people. That is why when I saw the petition on Facebook for President Obama to appoint a Secretary of the Arts, I felt compelled to join. Many New York artists took a cue from Quincy Jones, when he said he was going to ask President Obama to appoint a Secretary of the Arts, and created an online petition to ask the President to do just that.

France has had a Minister of Culture for over 50 years through both conservative and liberal democracies. The position was created to keep French culture thriving. I feel French and Americans agree that the arts are a valuable piece of our cultures. By creating this position, President Obama will be further acknowledging the importance of art in our society. That will be a benefit to everyone.

The Art of Feng Shui Image

Feng Shui for the Home

Your home should nourish you and help you achieve your goals in life.

The purpose of a home should not merely be to shelter you, but also to nourish you and help you achieve your goals in life. For this to become a reality, the space in your home needs to answer your demand for positive energy and flow. Many people fail to create positive energy in their homes, and as a result often find that their homes actually serve to counteract their goals. A home of any type or size can become a trap of negative thinking, weakened creativity, and imbalance. At the same time, a home of any type or size can greatly benefit from the principles of Feng Shui.

Feng Shui home planning takes your own personal character into account and creates a layout pattern that will brighten and support your sense of comfort and well-being. It will allow you to realize the true purpose of the different aspects of your home. For example, Feng Shui can make a living or dining room more open and welcoming to guests, while bringing your own personal spaces, such as bedroom or bath, into closer alignment with your own personal needs. In this sense, Feng Shui can be said to amplify the many functions your home is expected to perform.

Feng Shui for Business Space

The ancient Chinese art of creating an environment of balance and prosperity
A place of work is generally the place of high demands and high pressure. The success of a business rides directly on sustained productivity, focus, flexibility, and progressive thinking. These are some of the very elements that Feng Shui can provide or improve in a business space. Feng Shui principles can help identify the use and flow of space most conducive to a positive working atmosphere, which, studies have shown, provides global long-term benefits to both employer and employee. In addition, Feng Shui principles can radically influence the way that customers move through- and interact with -retail space, offering a degree of control that is essential to financial success.

The Challenges of a New Show

In two weeks the new Lurie Gallery in Sunset Plaza, West Hollywood will be presenting my work in a show titled, “Shinning Light.”

The photos in this show are mostly pictures of California. Various landscapes and beach locations have been selected for display. I met the owners Scott and Craig Lurie at the Beverly Hills Art show a few months back and they invited me to present my work in their galleries. I collaborated with the Sunset Strip gallery to decide on which pieces to use and we worked to incorporated different formats and print sizes that work best in the space.

A lot of prep work and organization goes into preparing for an opening. I have worked with a publicist to send out press releases, as well as invitations to potential buyers, art critics and media outlets. Jason, the gallery manager has been putting the physical part of the show together. What to hang and where to hang it may seem easy but there really is an art to it. Because of the non-traditional sizes of many of these works, much thought and effort goes into displaying each piece just right.

I feel the Lurie Gallery is a great place to show my work. They have a real understanding of what I am doing and their staff is very knowledgeable and has been great to work with. I am looking forward to a great time, with some good wine, food and friends.

The Book “For The Beauty Of It”<br />New Release 2008 Image

In 2007 noted French Efficiency Expert and cycling enthusiast Jean Marc Velez rode in the Race Across America (RAAM) tour. Called, “the world’s toughest bicycle race”, cyclists pedal 3,000 miles from Oceanside, California to Atlantic City, New Jersey in just over a week. Velez asked Olivier to chronicle this momentous event.

What resulted is an awe-inspiring collection of panoramic photos that capture the spirit of the race like never before. Shot entirely by Pojzman, the book is being called, “thought-provoking” (RAAM) and is sure to inspire not only cycling buffs but photography admirers and collectors as well.

Pour La Beaute du Geste (For The Beauty of It) is available for sale through the RAAM website.

Race Across America 2009 / RAAM Image

Now in its 28th year, The Race Across America has become an American Institution. Every June, an increasingly larger number of cyclists from all around the USA, Canada, Europe, Australia and South America gather on the shores of the Pacific Ocean to race in the world’s toughest bicycle race. To become an official finisher, solo male contestants must complete the 3,014* mile race course in less than 12 days, seniors and women are allowed nearly 13 days. For teams, the cut-off is 9 days. While solo contestants must qualify for RAAM, team members do not. In Solo male RAAM, a competitor must race his bicycle approximately 340 miles a day if he is to contend for the podium. At this pace, sleep is rare; in fact, if you plan to win this division you better plan on sleeping about 90 minutes a day, but probably not all at once. To put that in perspective we refer to the only person on earth who has reached the top of Mt. Everest and won the Race Across America, Austrian adventurer, Wolfgang Fasching, who stated that, “Everest is more dangerous, but RAAM is much harder”. So according to the only man to ever do both, Solo RAAM is much harder than climbing the highest mountain on earth! year, the Race Across America has become an American Institution.
