Quotes

“It’s so important to me and any artist to have creative control in the way we share our art. To

me it’s sharing a beautiful moment – sharing an experience – and hopefully it is uplifting and it

resonates with something in you… almost like going back in time or exploring another era.”

Olivier Pojzman, Featured Artist.

“We feel compelled to create a thriving, beating heart of a growing arts community that loves

visual art, film screenings, intimate music settings, fine wine, gourmet food, and fascinating

people. We want people to feel like they are part of something unique; and each time you visit

there is something new to see, feel, hear, taste, and smell… so that you get to create your own

palpable memory. Isn’t that what great art is meant to do?” Dale Vaughn, Gallery Manager.

The KONA Gallery’s key visual mission is create a forum for contemporary story telling. KONA is above all a gallery and space for photojournalism. A place for full reportages and moments that give us a point of view or illustrate an issue or moment in history to flourish and be seen. The line between journalism and art photography has been blurred in the last two decades and we hope our photojournalism will find a home in homes, board rooms and public spaces to help people appreciate the images and learn about the issues they illustrate.

ROUTE 66: Ménage à Trois PREMIERE’S AT THE BIG WEDNESDAY GALLERY
Panoramic Artist Olivier Pojzman Newest Tour De Force
SAN CLEMENTE, CALIFORNIA, U.S.–– The Big Wednesday Gallery is pleased to present fine-art photographer Olivier Pojzman’s ROUTE 66: Ménage à Trois. Join us at The KONA Gallery and Photojournalism Center at 412 North El Camino Real, San Clemente, California, U.S. 92672 on Saturday April 23rd from 6-12p.m. for the artist’s opening of these large (as big as 10×10 feet) works of art.

ROUTE 66: Ménage à Trois came about from Pojzman’s love of the open road, especially the iconic highway that stretches 2,400 miles, connecting eight American states. The dusty road runs from Illinois through Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and ends in California. Pojzman’s keen eye has captured the quirkiness of many forgotten roadside beauties, combining snapshots to create idyllic photographic mementos. ROUTE 66: Ménage à Trois is a series of limited edition photographic giclees printed on canvas, in triptych form, which individual units can be mixed and exchanged, thus forming new Ménage à Trois’s.

The exhibit will be viewable daily in the Big Wednesday Gallery at The KONA Gallery and Photojournalism Center from April 23rd- May 31st, 2011.

Pacific Design Center New Exhibition / Nov 18 to Jan 15, 2011

Pacific Design Center New Exhibition Image

Yann Perreau is pleased to announce the opening of “Here is Elsewhere” gallery as part of “Design Loves Art” at Pacific Design Center, Los Angeles. “Here is Elsewhere” is a project space dedicated to exploring the hidden history that links artists from “Here” -So Cal- with artists from “Elsewhere”.

Mission Statement:

“Here is Elsewhere” is a project space dedicated to exploring the hidden history that links artists from «Here» -Southern California- with artists from “Elsewhere”-the rest of the world.

Los Angeles has become in the last decades one of the world capitals of the arts. If Angelino artists are now at the top of the art scene, their perception and influence abroad is still to be researched, understood and exhibited in its full length. Hence the idea of “Here is Elsewhere”: to (re)create, stimulate and increase the dialogue between artists from here and from elsewhere, from different fields and from different generations. As a result of these original collaborations, exhibitions, presentations, talks and performances will be organized at the end of each project, in collaboration with cultural institutions, museums and galleries.

“Venice artists from then to now”, the first exhibition at the gallery, will open on November 18th at 5 pm. This group show will explore Venice Beach’s rich and radical art scene, from the 1960’s until now. When the Ferus Gallery opened, Venice was an affordable paradise for a community of artists, dealers, homeless, rock stars and Beat poets. This is the place where key figures of the Southern California art scene met to create their most experimental works. “I wouldn’t live anywhere else” explains Larry Bell who returned to his original studio on Pacific Avenue after years in Taos, New Mexico. Forty years after its pioneer time, Venice is now often seen as passé or cliché. It would have become gentrified, some kind of a touristic resort. It would have lost its soul.

This exhibition intends to show how the town by the ocean still possesses, just as it used to do, a rich and creative art community. Sometimes using new forms of expressions (video, graffiti) a young generation of artists is emerging. They are creating a new vision while following the steps, more or less consciously, of their great predecessors. How Venice artists have become over the years an iconic community? What are the links between this past and that present? Inspired by Walter Benjamin’s historical method of “the tiger’s leap into the past” this show raises these questions. It features works from some of those who have contributed to the birth of Venice as a “maverick” art scene (Larry Bell, Huguette Caland, Laddie John Dill, Elsa Rady), emerging artists from the new generation (N.Agyapong, James Mathers, Jules Muck, Ace Norton, Kim Schoenstadt, Emily Smith, Samantha Thomas) and outsiders (Marc Velesella, Dominique Moody) whose point of view reflects Venice’s image as a double-standard mirror. Plus special performance and guests to be announced.

Silent Auction to benefit
the Alliance Francaise / Feb 27, 2009

Silent Auction to benefit <br />the Alliance Francaise Image

The Alliance Française (AF) is an organisation whose mission is to promote French language and culture outside France. Its primary concern is teaching French as a second language.

The Alliance was created in Paris on 21 July 1883 by a group of eminent men, including the scientist Louis Pasteur, the diplomat Ferdinand de Lesseps, the writers Jules Verne and Ernest Renan, and the publisher Armand Colin.

It finances most of its activities from the fees it receives from its courses and from rental of its installations. Unfortunately, the hard times have affected them as well as many.

Being the proud father of an American young lady with french heritage I thought it would be a good idea to help them go over this hurdle and keep them alive to promote a culture I cherish.

A silent auction will be held in their offices on February 27th. Artists Guillaume TunziniLili Rahmati and myself will showcase our work in their facilities and proceeds of the sales will benefit the Alliance.

CELEBRITY & FINE ART PHOTOGRAPHER OLIVIER POJZMAN’S PANORAMIC PHOTOS FEATURED IN OPENING CELEBRATION FOR SUNSET STRIP’S NEW LURIE GALLERY

(Los Angeles, CA January 21, 2009) — After traveling throughout the Western region of the United States to capture new images and create fresh artwork, celebrity photographer Olivier Pojzman (www.IrisWork.com) will reveal his newest forced perspective fine art photography at the brand new Lurie Gallery Los Angeles (www.luriegalleries.com).  Although Pojzman has shot the likes of Paris Hilton and Queen Latifah and created images for corporate clients such as Apple, Sky Vodka and Starbucks Coffee, his true passion lies within fine art photography. The exhibition opens with a reception on Saturday, February 7, from 7-10 pm at the Lurie Gallery Los Angeles, located at 8570 Sunset Boulevard, 90210. Unlike traditional landscape imagery, Pojzman’s innovative technique uses forced perspective to stretch the 180-degree capacity of the human field of sight to a minimum of 250 degrees. This opening celebration for the new Lurie Gallery Los Angeles will also feature the work of two other artists, contemporary painter Daniel Maltzman (www.danielmaltzman.com) and Australian born Bernard Dunaux (www.dunaux.com).
